Dear Prospective Student,
On behalf of the staff at the Office of Career Advancement (OCA) I would like to thank you for attending Rowan University’s Open House Program. I understand that selecting a college brings about excitement and anticipation as well as challenges and uncertainty. Realizing the first year of college is the foundation upon which your academic experience is built, we view the freshman year as an essential time to help students build a solid basis for life-long academic, personal, and career success.
We will assist you in making the transition to college, guide you in researching majors and careers, provide academic and career development support, and answer all the questions I’m sure you’ll have. The Office of Career Advancement and the University community will provide the stimulus and support to nurture your zest for knowledge.
It is not unusual for a student to apply to a university as an undeclared student. Delaying the choice of a specialized course of study allows students some flexibility to explore programs and disciplines. At Rowan, you will have the opportunity to explore your interests through coursework, self-assessment, individual counseling, and conduct research in our resource lab. The Office of Career Advancement’s Resource Library houses career related literature and computers dedicated for major and career research. In addition, you can visit the OCA center's webpage at www.rowan.edu/cmc to explore the process of planning your academic program which includes a four plan. The bottom line is that there is a lot of assistance and support for students. The Office of Career Advancement staff will assist you in making an informed decision about exploring career options, and connecting you with employers for internship and job opportunities.
Again, thank you for attending Rowan University’s Open House Program and I hope to see you at the Office of Career Advancement.
