Peer Referral and Orientation Staff (PROS)
As fall approaches, we know you are thinking about leaving home and beginning life at Rowan. Whether you’re coming from a few miles or hundreds of miles away, we want you to know that you are coming to a place where other students care about you.

You’re probably feeling a little excited and maybe even a little apprehensive. Not too long ago, we were in the same position. Rest assured, we understand your feelings and emotions about going to college. Please do not hesitate to ask us questions; we’re anxious to help in any way we can.

P.S. Look for us in the gold PROS tees and sweatshirts at Orientation. Until then, read our bios!

About the PROS

Peer Referral and Orientation Staff (PROS) members are currently enrolled students who have been selected and trained to offer educational services to their peers.

These services are intentionally designed to assist in the adjustment, satisfaction and persistence of students toward attainment of their educational goals. The PROS, performing in paraprofessional roles, are supervised by qualified professionals and compensated for their services.

PROS have been selected and specially trained to assist students with personal, social and academic concerns. Generally, they interact with students during orientation to assist, acclimate, befriend and support students as they adjust to the campus. They are trained to help new students adjust to university life and persist in attaining educational goals.

PROS work primarily in the area of personal and social concerns, assisting students in their general adjustment to the college community. The role of the PROS is not to solve people’s problems for them, but rather to assist them in finding their own solutions. They act as resource persons to direct their fellow students to on-campus facilities and professionals appropriate to their needs.

These 50 upperclassmen are enthusiastic about attending Rowan and they hope you will feel the same way. That’s why they come back to the campus during summer break to assist with orientation.

The PROS want students and parents to get personal attention, become familiar with the campus and have a pleasurable and rewarding experience at orientation.
