Frequently Asked Questions by Parents

What will I do at Orientation?
You’ll attend workshops, visit the campus and interact with administrators, faculty, staff and students who are available to provide information and answer questions.

Do both parents have to attend?
Both parents are not required to attend, but it is a great opportunity to learn about Rowan.

Do I have to attend both days?
If you can only attend one day, it is recommended that you attend the first day. Most of the workshops are held on the first day and more faculty members are available to answer your questions.

Do I have to spend the night?
Parents are not required to spend the night and the University does not provide overnight accommodations. A list of area hotels is provided on the Hotel Information page.

Where do I go on the first day of Orientation?
Drop your student(s) off at Mimosa Hall and then proceed to Wilson Hall for registration and a continental breakfast.
Students and parents will follow different schedules during the 2-day Orientation.

Can I see my child during Orientation?
The University designs separate programs for parents and students to create a valuable experience for both. If you need to contact your child, you can consult the information table located in the Student Center.

Are meals provided at Orientation?
All meals are provided for students. Parents receive a continental breakfast and an afternoon reception on day 1. Lunch can be purchased in our Marketplace, but dinner is on your own.

Is parking available on campus?
Yes. Parking is provided in all the commuter lots on campus.

What time does Orientation begin and end on Day 1 and Day 2?
Students and parents should arrive at 8 a.m. to register on the first day. The parents’ program ends at 4:30 p.m. (an optional reception is scheduled for 4:30-6:30 p.m.). The students’ program runs until 11:00 p.m. On Day 2, breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m. for students. The parent program begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends around 1 p.m on day 2. .
