4 on 4

Overview:

The 4 on 4 Wallyball League is similar to volleyball but is played on Racquetball Court 4 in the Recreation Center. Each registered team will receive at least 4 regular season games. For any team to qualify for the single elimination playoffs, they must have at least a .500 record and 3.5 sportsmanship ratings average. Teams owing a forfeit fee or that have forfeited 2 contests are not eligible.

Teams at the beginning of each night are responsible for setting up the wallyball net. This can be checked out at the Front Desk. An IM Supervisor will be available to check in participants and to administer game results.

Wallyball is a team game that is played with a round inflated ball in an area where a net is placed between 2 or more walls. Play is started by one team hitting the ball "off the wall" or directly over the net to the opposing teams' floor area. The opposing team attempts to prevent this by hitting the ball off the side or back wall and volleying it back over the net. The ball is out of bounds whenever it touches the ceiling, hits the back wall, or hits two or more walls on the serve or volley. The back wall is in play only on teams' side that's returning the serve or volley. Points are scored when the team’s side that's returning the serve or volley fails to return it in a manner allowed by the rules. The team first to 15 points provided there is a two-point advantage is declared the winner.

Any rules not in the wallyball rules will follow intramural volleyball guidelines.

Registration Information:

The registration deadline for 4 on 4 Wallyball is Tuesday, October 6th at 7pm at the Rec Center Front Desk. Cost is $20/team. The mandatory captain's meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 6th at 9pm in the Rec Center Conference Room. Any teams not represented at the captain's meeting will be assessed a $10 fee for missing the meeting. If the team captain is not available, a team representative must attend.
