Extramural Sports are an opportunity for intramural participants to compete in a setting where they compete against teams from other institutions. State and Regional Tournaments are hosted throughout the country, with many sports having a national championship.
Generally there is a team fee for each sport and if there is a national tournament, the regional and state winning teams in each respective division win a bid to participate in the national tournament, and many times receive additional funding for travel/hotel accommodations.
