Boston University Basketball Regional February 19-21, 2010
Entry Deadline:
Boston University will be accepting the first 36 teams to submit the completed Intent to Participate Form and Fee. Teams will be notified of their registration status via e-mail upon receipt of their Intent form and Entry Fee:Entry fee is $300.00 per team. This fee becomes non-refundable once a team has been notified that they have been accepted into the tournament (one of the first 36 teams to register). Teams not admitted into the tournament will be have their fee refunded. Spectators:An entry fee of $5.00 per day, or $10.00 for a weekend pass, will be charged for all spectators. Teams will be granted complimentary credentials for a maximum of two coaches associated with their team (request must be submitted prior to the tournament). Divisions:Men’s and Women’s (Rosters are limited to 12 players). Eligibility:
Faculty/staff are no longer eligible to participate in NCCS basketball events. All players must be enrolled students with a minimum of 1/2 full-time enrollment as an undergraduate or minimum of six hours as a classified graduate student of the representing institution, throughout the NCCS event. Players must not be listed as a member of a varsity sport (or on “Squad List”) in the same or related activity and gender during the 2009-10 academic year. Exceptions will be granted for players who were listed on a “Squad List” for less than three weeks. Players must have never been declared a professional player in the same or related activity. It is the responsibility of each team and their Intramural/Club Sports Coordinator(s) to ensure eligibility of all players. Tournament Structure:Pool play will consist of 4 team pools and will begin on Friday evening, February 19. Times will be determined based on the number of teams in the tournament. The top one or two teams (depending on the total number of teams) from each pool will advance to a single elimination tournament to be held Sunday, February 21. All teams will be emailed the Friday/Saturday pool play schedule the day before the tournament. Every team will play one game Friday night (6-11pm), one game Saturday morning (8am-Noon), and one game Saturday afternoon (2-6pm). Sites of Play:Boston University Fitness and Recreation Center, 915 Commonwealth Ave. Mandatory Captain’s Meeting:Friday, February 19 at 6:00 PM in the Boston University Fitness and Recreation Center, Room 222. Every team must send one representative. Awards:Each champion Men’s and Women’s team will receive a bid to attend the NIRSA NCCS National Basketball Championships taking place at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN on the weekend of April 9-11, 2010. Each champion Men’s and Women’s team will receive a $1,500 stipend to be used toward their travel to the National Championship Tournament. Champion, Runner-up, and Semi-finalist team awards, as well as individual awards for the Men’s and Women’s All-Tournament Teams will be handed out. Check In:Teams must check in at the Team Registration Table in the Boston University Fitness and Recreation Center, no later than 5:30 PM on Friday, February 19. Host Hotel:Rooms have been blocked at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge for a discount rate. The number of discounted rooms is limited.
