Rowan Regional Basketball Official's Clinic
Saturday, January 26, 2013 The Rowan University Intramural Sports Department welcomes any student official interested in becoming a better basketball official. For the 9th year in a row, we have been fortunate to host an educational and hands-on clinic with the help of some great professional and student clinicians. We have developed several student officials from various institutions in the region on proper officiating procedures and mechanics and hope you take this opportunity to enhance your student referees' basketball officiating knowledge. *Deadline to register is Tuesday, January 22nd Each official will receive a clinic t-shirt, fox40 whistle, lanyard, and lunch. All attendees will receive group and individual instruction and feedback.
Overview: This basketball clinic will focus on the proper mechanics of officiating basketball. Although rules knowledge is essential to knowing basketball officiating, the focus of this clinic is knowing where to go, how to communicate with fellow officials and players, and what mechanics will help to insure a great foundation to officiating in your intramural basketball season. 2-person mechanics will be reviewed in the classroom as well as on the court. Each official that registers by the deadline will be guaranteed at least 1/2 game to officiate, with evaluation or shadowing from qualified clinicians/evaluators. The clinic is limited to the first 36 students registered to ensure personalized instruction. Check in is from 8am - 9am. The clinic will run from 9am - 5pm.
