News Former IM Staff land graduate assistantships July 17, 2009 National Flag Football Referees and recent Rowan Alumni RJ Canning and Ed Dean are going on to bigger and better things as they both acquired prestigious graduate assistantships in campus recreation. RJ was offered numerous assistantship offers and decided to work for the University of Texas at Austin Intramural Program as their graduate assistant. Through his next two years he will obtain his graduate degree while working 20+ hours a week in an intramural program that has 300-500 teams for their major team sports. RJ looks forward to not only this experience, but the experience of a large campus, Longhorns football, basketball and the city of Austin. RJ plans on officiating high school football and high school basketball for the 2009-2010 year. Ed Dean landed a graduate assistantship with Austin Peay University in Tennessee. Ed excelled in his role as an intramural official, supervisor, and manager at Rowan and will be challenged in his graduate assistantship at APSU. He will bring leadership and student development to their intramural program and will pursue officiating high school sports. Ed hopes to continue to be involved in State, Regional, and National Flag Football and Basketball Tournaments and gain his graduate degree at APSU. Good luck to RJ and Ed in their pursuits! -IM Department 856-256-4959 Links |
