How are Freshmen Placed Into Their Housing Assignments?

There are many layers that are looked at when freshmen are placed into their housing assignment.  Below is the order in which we assess each student and then place into a housing assignment.  Housing is guaranteed and mandatory for all students who have less than 58 earned credit hours.  To view the mandatory housing policy click here.

    • Students are first placed by their learning community (if assigned to one).  If your roommate request is in a different learning community than you, you will most likely not be placed together.  If your roommate request is not in a learning community, we will place you together provided there is space within the learning community to accommodate roommate requests.
    • Building Preferences/Roommate Preferences – If a student is not assigned to a learning community, we will then place them by their building preferences as outlined on their fall housing application.  Although preferences are taken into consideration, it is not a guarantee that the student will be placed into the building of their choice.

How do I receive information about my roommate(s)?

Freshmen will receive their fall housing assignment the first week of August.  To find out information about your roommates log on to My Housing by clicking here.

We highly encourage students to contact their roommates prior to move in day to determine who is bringing what items in order to avoid duplicates.
