Rowan University Office of Residential Learning/University Housing Graduate level - Resident Director

Anticipated vacancies for 2009- 2010 academic yearWorks independently and collaboratively with university and residence hall staff to create and maintain a dynamic and developmental presence for the campus. This is a part- time graduate position within the Residential Learning/Housing Office in the Student Affairs Division.It is understood that a graduate position in Residential Learning/University Housing will require evening and weekend work. It is further understood that this position includes on-call responsibilities during the contract period. The contract runs from July 27, 2009 – May 31, 2010.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervision of Undergraduate Resident Assistants
  • Supervise all housing operations processes/procedures within building including but not limited to work orders,checkins/checkouts, room changes
  • Judicial hearing officer 
  • Coordinates community development activities and other programs
  • 20 in-hall office hours per week, weekday hours
  • Hold weekly in-hall staff meetings typically in the evenings
  • On-call via cell phone
  • Rotation of Weekly campus duty with RD staff.
  • Pursues professional development opportunities to enhance expertise
  • Serves as Resident Student Council advisor
  • Other duties as assigned by Residential Learning/University Housing
Education and Experience: 
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. Applicants must be accepted and enrolled as a full time student in a Graduate program at Rowan University to be offered the position. Some graduate programs may not fit the needs of the resident director position.The successful candidate will possess the best combination of education, experience and the following:
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability and willingness to develop new initiatives
  • Must be a team player
