Student University Programmers

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Student University Programmers shall be to provide the students of Rowan University with an array of diverse, educational, and entertaining programs, to encourage the development of leadership skills and cooperation among all students, and to promote the interests, image, and quality of experience at Rowan University.

All meetings will be held at 9:15 PM in the student center, Room 221.

A General Member is defined as one who volunteers at least 15 hours continuously throughout the semester. As a thank you for volunteering, you would be given the opportunity to volunteer/work at some of the larger Office of Student Activities events (i.e. RoGlow, Mustache March, Homecoming), be invited to our mid year and end of the year banquet, come to our General Members only events, and much more!

Cinema Committee

The Cinema committee is responsible for putting on movie nights that are free to students every Wednesday night in the Student Center. The films shown are just out of theatres, but have not yet been released on DVD. The committee members that volunteer are responsible for checking in Rowan students, making popcorn, conducting a raffle, and much more! If you enjoy films and want to help pick the movies shown for the following semester, this is the committee for you.

Off Campus Committee

The Off Campus committee plans various trips throughout the semester at affordable prices for students. Some of our previous trips include: Wildwood day trip, Phillies games, ziplining, Six Flags, Longwood Gardens, Broadway shows, and midnight movie premieres. Any Rowan student is eligible to purchase a ticket with their Rowan ID. If you want to voice your ideas on which trips we should have, then come out to our next meeting to see what we are about!

Signature Events Committee

The Signature Events committee manages all of our philanthropic events, such as: the Holiday Helper Auction, St. Baldrick’s Day, and the Night Bright Color Run. Past charities we have donated to are The Progeria Research Foundation, the Gift of Life Family House, Childhood Cancer Research, and many more! Our members help plan these events, find creative ways to fundraise, and even express their interests about which charities we should donate to. If you enjoy being part of events that’s purpose are to give back to those in need, then this is the right committee for you!

Marketing Committee

The Marketing committee is responsible for promoting all of SUP’s events through various approaches, such as: creating pit posters for the Student Center, visiting resident halls, putting on promotional events, and more. The committee also has a street team to ensure that students around campus know what our upcoming events are. If you are interested in gaining valuable marketing experience and want to show your creative side, then the Marketing committee is calling your name!

Live Events Committee

The Live Events committee meets weekly to discuss comedians, musicians, concerts, and other live events that should be brought to campus. They are also responsible for heading competition style events on campus such as the Battle of the Bands, Homecoming Lip Sync Contest, and Laugh Off Comedian Competition. If you are interested in this style of programming, then come out to our next weekly meeting!

Special Events Committee

The Special Events committee manages various special events on campus including but not limited to: Winter Ball, SpringFest, Bikes and Boards, and Last Lecture. They are always looking for new ideas of novelty acts to bring to campus, and allow the creative personalities of the committee members to help. If any of these aspects apply, then this committee is right for you!

Technical Services Committee

This committee provides technical services for all events sponsored by the Student University Programmers and the Office of Student Activities. This committee also provides services for other student organizations on campus for a small fee. We have the ability to teach you how to work various state-of-the-art, professional-grade equipment for lighting and sound. Committee members will be given the opportunity to have a hands-on experience of working behind-the-scenes while having fun!

Stop by the Student Programming Suite, SC 117, and pick up a tech request form. The Director of Technical Services will work with you to make sure you have what you need for your event. Cost for tech services is available on the tech request form.
