November 12th 2007. That day will always be remembered in Student Center history- The day that Profs Place officially opened its doors to Rowan University. The place formerly known as the Rathskellar has a very rich history.
When the Student Center opened its doors in 1974 it served as the campus bookstore, but in the 1980’s it was transformed into the campus bar where Glassboro State College students would go to relax, hang out, and meet up with friends. When the campus went “dry” in the early 90’s the Rathskellar closed its doors, and was then used as multi purpose room that could hold meetings, dance parties, and was the temporary dining while the Market Place renovation was being completed in 2004-05.
 
Profs Place is the spot that all members of the Rowan community are welcomed. It serves as a lounge for those who need a place to relax between classes with 6 LCD TVs, a place to eat- with Yella’s offering a number of food options, and a place to play- with 2 pool tables, board games, laptop rentals, and a stage for a variety of performances
