Project Coordinator Benefits and Responsibilities

Upon advancement as a Project Coordinator, participants will continue to work with their Faculty/Staff Mentor, and will be required to update their Mentor/Mentee Contract.  Participation benefits and requirements at this level will be as follows:

Project Coordinator Benefits

  1. Recognized as Project Coordinators and awarded a certificate at the fall opening ceremony with the following titles: Ujima or male component Project Coordinators to designate participation in Ujima or the male component accordingly.
  2. Eligible for paid employment with the mentoring program office.

Project Coordinator Responsibilities
In order to participate at this level and to be in good standing with the mentoring program, Project Coordinators MUST be willing to serve for a full academic year and will:

  1. Complete a Mentor/Mentee Contract in which they will outline a set of clear achievable short term goals for the course of their first year at Rowan University.
  2. Respond in a timely manner to correspondence from the mentoring program office and from their peer-mentor.
  3. Meet with their Faculty/Staff Mentors at least 4 times during the course of each semester.
  4. Discuss frankly with their Faculty/Staff Mentors any issues or problems they may be facing in order to get support in resolving such challenges and will make use of student support services appropriately.
  5. Attend Leadership Development Training at the beginning of each semester.
  6. Meet with their mentees (Apprentice Peer-Mentors) twice a month in their first semester and once a month in their second semester to provide them with general support and guidance/training on peer-mentoring.
  7. Attend and encourage their mentee to attend all appropriate program meetings, workshops.
  8. Submit Peer-Mentor/Mentee Meeting Logs at each monthly meeting.
  9. Meet as a group once a week with the Assistant Director and Graduate Assistant to discuss and plan programmatic events.
  10. Seek involvement and leadership in at least one on-campus organization other than the Mentoring Program.
