Honor students take break

April 23, 2008

On Tuesday, April 22, Dr. Don Stoll’s Honors College Composition II/Global Climate Change class took a break from talking about the Earth to do something to help it.

“My students insisted on doing something for Earth Day,” said Stoll, whose class planted a tree in honor of national day of observance. “It went from ‘Let’s do something so we don’t have to hear you talk,’ to ‘Let’s do something to help the Earth,’” he laughed.

So, Stoll put in a few calls and found out the University was planning to plant a tree the following Friday. He had the date moved up, and his class stepped in to take over the planting.

“This is a class that focuses on global climate change,” he said. “[The students] are interested in this topic, as well as sustainability and global ecology.”
