The American Society of Civil Engineers has selected Rowan University's Joseph Orlins, an assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering, as a 2003 ExCEEd Teaching Fellow. ExCEEd (Excellence in Civil Engineering Education) fellows participate in a teaching workshop that offers civil-engineering educators an opportunity to improve their teaching. Orlins, of Glassboro, completed the workshop at Northern Arizona University.
Rowan University biological sciences professor Maria V. Tahamont of Collingswood received the university's Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award for her contributions to teaching.
Rowan University presented the second Joseph A. Barnes Award for outstanding service to Rowan University to Richard Grupenhoff, a professor in the Radio/TV/Film Department of the College of Communication.
Sponsored by The University Senate, American Federation of Teachers, Campbell Library and Friends of the Campbell Library, the Barnes Award honors a member of the Rowan community who has made exceptional service contributions to the university.
Grupenhoff, of Washington Township, has been a member of the Rowan faculty for 28 years.
