Pigeon study offers potential

Courier-Post
March 17, 2006

Gerald Hough is a scientist who coos -- there's no other word for it -- to his research subjects.

But how else does one talk to a homing pigeon?

"Ooohhhh . . . Let's see how photogenic you are," the Rowan University assistant professor says/coos, thrusting a bare hand into a cage and plucking out a reluctant, fluttering specimen.

The 15 adult and juvenile pigeons in the aviary Hough has built in the Glassboro university's Boss-hart Hall are the focus of an innovative experiment.
