Chester County Resident Honored by Rowan University Dean

Robert R. Derelanko, a Rowan University student from Downington, PA, was honored as an outstanding graduating senior by Dr. Jay Harper, dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. Harper cited one student from each major in the College during a recognition ceremony in April.

Derelanko was honored for his work in computer science and has been described as ?an excellent student, having excelled in both theoretical and practical classes.? He is the computer science student lab manager, has served as both vice president and president of Rowan?s Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) student chapter, competed in ACM programming teams, assisted with Rowan?s high school programming contest and helped to organize student recruiting efforts aimed at students who have applied to the Computer Science Department. He plans on pursuing a Ph.D. in computer science.
