Rowan Observatory Holds Open House

Rowan University will host an open house for The Rowan Astronomical Observatory on Thursday, November 3, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The public is welcome to join faculty and students atop Science Hall as they mark the Earth?s closest approach to Mars since 2003. Visitors will have a chance to view celestial objects with the University?s 0.4-meter telescope in the dome and other telescopes on the observing deck. Targets that night will include Venus, several colorful stars, Uranus, Neptune and Mars.

Guests also will have an opportunity to learn about Rowan?s astronomy program, including advanced courses, research and an astronomy minor. The evening also will feature a short program about Mars in the Edelman Planetarium running every 30 minutes (first show starts at 6 p.m., last show starts at 7:30 p.m.)
