'Dahminator' qualifies for AIChE national competition in Salt Lake City

Rowan University's Chem E Car, "The Dahminator," qualified for national competition during the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference held April 21 at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA.

The car, named after former AIChE Rowan advisor Dr. Kevin D. Dahm and propelled by chemical reaction, will compete in Salt Lake City in November.

All but two of the 15 team members are Rowan students in chemical engineering. The Dahminator's team members include senior Peter Renner (electrical and computer engineering), of Columbia, MD; juniors James D'Aloia, of Stockton; Tim Moroz, of Toms River; Ye Ji Shin, of Ridgefield; Colleen McGinness, of Jackson; Lindsay Poole, of Wenonah; Frank Poandl, of Metuchen; Chris Fable, of Freehold; and Nate Downes (electrical and computer engineering) of Gibbstown; and sophomores Mike Raymond, of Burlington; Nicole Cosgrove, of Toms River; Sarah Wilson, of West Chester, PA; and Alvin Addu, of Belleville.

The project's leaders are juniors Mike Newgas, of Estell Manor, and Matt Hunnemeder, of Rio Grande.

AIChE's Mid-Atlantic region includes student chapters from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, western Virginia and southeastern New York state (including New York City and Long Island). The AIChE is an educational, professional and policy-making organization with 40,000 members in 93 countries, according to its Web site.
