Rowan engineering program introduces teen girls to engineering

May 29, 2007

Rowan University's College of Engineering will host its ninth annual Attracting Women Into Engineering (AWE) program on Tuesday, July 17, and Wednesday, July 18, on the University's Glassboro campus.

This year, Rowan is holding two one-day workshops designed to introduce middle school girls entering the 7th and 8th grades to the field of engineering. Participants in the highly competitive workshops will interact with faculty members and undergraduate engineering students via hands-on experiments in the various fields of engineering. The goal of AWE is to provide teenage girls with opportunities to explore multiple engineering disciplines while reinforcing the need for them to stay focused on their science and math studies.

The program accepts 50 students for each session, and limited seats are still available. There is a $10 workshop fee for participants.

Deadline for applications is June 1. Call (856) 256-5309 for more information.
