Registration deadline May 23 for Rowan engineering workshops for high school students
March 25, 2008High school students have until May 23 to register for Rowan's Introduction for Students to Engineering (RISE), the College of Engineering's program for students curious about a future as an engineer.
RISE is a three-day workshop that offers an opportunity for students to participate in hands-on engineering activities. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, July 8 through Thursday, July 10, in Rowan Hall, the engineering building off Bowe Boulevard in Glassboro.
The workshop will feature laboratory clinics, campus tours and a chance to meet College of Engineering professors and students. Field trips to industry sites are also part of the experience.
Applications are available for downloading at http://www.rowan.edu/colleges/engineering/k-12/rise and require a one-page essay on the topic "Why are you interested in engineering?" Admission is on a rolling basis. The program fee is $250 (which includes lunch).
