Carvalho earns doctorate in education from Rowan

Shawnequa T. Carvalho, who grew up in Jeffersonville, recently earned her doctorate in educational leadership from Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J.

Carvalho, whose doctoral dissertation was a study of female educational leaders, received the degree during Rowan's Graduate Commencement on May 15.

A resident of Washington Township, N.J., Carvalho is a school administrator in the Deptford Township school system. She also is an adjunct instructor in Drexel University's School of Education.

Carvalho earned master's degrees in reading and educational leadership from St. Joseph's University in 2002 and 2003 respectively. She also earned her bachelor's degree in psychology and education from Immaculata University in 2000.
