Documentary on farming honored by New Jersey Broadcasters Association
June 11, 2008A student documentary on the status and future of New Jersey farms has been named best public affairs show by the New Jersey Broadcasters Association (NJBA).
"Fading Farms and Saving Grace: Preserving the Garden State" won "Best of the Best" in the public affairs category during the NJBA's 2008 Mid-Atlantic States Broadcasters Conference held in Atlantic City.
The award is the sixth for the documentary, which was co-produced by Rowan students Julia Giacoboni and Brian Kanady.
The documentary competed against established broadcast professionals to win the award from the NJBA. New Jersey Network also was honored in the public affairs category.
Giacoboni, who will enter her senior year at Rowan in September, is a radio/television/film major and a Cedarville resident. Kanady, who earned his bachelor's degree in journalism from Rowan in May, is a resident of Upper Pittsgrove.
The trade association for radio and television stations in New Jersey, the NJBA also includes professionals from stations in New York City and Philadelphia. Founded in 1946, the organization serves as the voice of New Jersey broadcasters in Trenton and Washington, D.C.
