Zenaida Gephardt elected local AiChE chair
August 07, 2008The American Institute for Chemical Engineers — Delaware Valley Section has elected as its chair Rowan University chemical engineering associate professor Dr. Zenaida Otero Gephardt, of Wilmington, DE.
Gephardt earned a Ph.D. and M.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware and a B.S. in chemical engineering from Northwestern University. She joined the Rowan faculty in 1985 after working for E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. and the University of Delaware.
Licensed as a professional engineer in Delaware, Gephardt serves on the editorial board of Formación Universitaria, Centro de Información Tecnológica, La Serena, Chile, and is a reviewer for the Journal of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. She has served as vice chair of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers — Delaware Valley Section and is a member of the Delaware Association of Professional Engineers and American Society for Engineering Education.
A prolific author on engineering and education topics, Gephardt has presented her work primarily in North, Central and South America. She has received funding for her research from such organizations as the National Science Foundation, the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance and Sony Music.
The American Institute for Chemical Engineers, according to the organization, is the world's leading organization for chemical engineering professionals, with more than 40,000 members from 93 countries.
