Beta Gamma Sigma honors Rowan group
October 02, 2008Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society, has designated Rowan University's student chapter of the organization as a premier chapter for 2007-08.
In granting the honor, the parent organization noted, "Your acceptance rate . . . indicates a chapter where academic excellence is valued and where the faculty officers of the chapter work diligently to enhance Beta Gamma Sigma's stature on campus."
Premier chapters qualify for consideration as an Outstanding Chapter as well as for $500 in matching funds for the Society's Scholarship Program, according to Beta Gamma Sigma.
Faculty members select students to invite into BGS. Those students must be in the upper 10 percent of the junior class, upper 10 percent of the senior class, upper 20 percent of the master's class or have completed all requirements to receive a doctorate. To become a premier chapter, an institution must have an overall member acceptance rate of at least 85 percent.
BGS serves business programs accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Membership in BGS is the highest recognition a business student can receive. BGS honors academic achievement as well as personal and professional excellence in the study and practice of business.
