Rohrer College of Business to host conference on sustainable business practices
March 26, 2009More than 200 attendees are expected from colleges and universities in the Delaware Valley and major regional businesses and corporations as they exchange ideas, share best practices and create collaborations.
The keynote speaker will be Michael Carbone, TD Bank President for the Philadelphia Metro Market. Carbone is a graduate of Rowan University where he earned his B.A. in economics.
Panelists are expected from major regional businesses, including Dawn Rittenhouse, Director of Sustainable Development, DuPont; Beth Rosemond, Assistant Director, Corporate Responsibility, Ernst & Young; Robert Friedman, Senior Director, Environmental, Health and Safety, Siemens Medical Solutions USA; Brian O'Malley, CEO, Domino Foods; and Stephen Masapollo, CEO, Solar Works NJ.
The day also will include presentations by area faculty and students on research related to sustainability.
Conference chair Dr. Dilip Mirchandani, chair of Rowan's Department of Management and Entrepreneurship, said that sustainability is a critical issue for businesses as well as the general public. The purpose of the event, according to Mirchandani, is to discover what companies are doing and the challenges they face in terms of the elements of sustainability-economic, environmental and social.
