Rowan observatory open house to mark International Year of Astronomy

The Rowan University Astronomy Club and the Department of Physics & Astronomy will commemorate the 400th anniversary of Galileo's first use of the telescope as an astronomical tool by hosting an open house on Thursday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the Rowan University Astronomical Observatory, Rt. 322, Glassboro.

The program, part of a series of events to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy,
will include a brief show in the Edelman Planetarium in Science Hall at 7:30 p.m. From 8 to 11 p.m., guests will be invited to view the night sky from the observatory and observing deck, where students and faculty will operate telescopes.
 
The program is free and open to the public. No food or drinks are allowed.
