Rowan showcases work by student choreographers

April 22, 2009

What if we could view the world as others see it? How would it alter your own perspective? Ten student choreographers in Rowan University’s Department of Theatre & Dance set out to do just that as they share their views in Ten Through a Fisheye Lens. The production runs April 30, May 1 and 2, 2009 at 8pm, with a matinee on May 3 at 3pm in Tohill Theatre.

The Spring Dance Concert highlights 10 original student-choreographed pieces. Greg Anmuth of Laurel Springs, Dana Bender of Rockaway Township, Kelly Boeckle of Williamstown, Brianne Crines of Wall, Cheryl Francaviglia of Brick, Jenna Ings of Rockaway, Lauren O’Shea of Edison, Christina Sallemi of Oakland, Dana Sandone of Sewell and Jen Yorkanis of Toms River have produced fresh works exploring their takes on reality and issues people are facing in the world in which we live.

Under the direction of faculty member Paule Turner, the department’s choreography class aims to find honesty in movement and expressions. Continuing to promote dance as art, this concert assembles a cast of 30 student performers to showcase student choreography developed through a year-long creative process with Turner.

Tohill Theatre is located in Bunce Hall on the campus of Rowan University, Route 322 in Glassboro, NJ. Tickets are $10, general admission; and $5 for children, non-Rowan students and seniors. Tickets for Rowan students are free with a valid ID. For information and advance tickets, please visit www.rowan.edu/fpa or call the Box Office at (856) 256-4545.
