Orientation sessions to welcome incoming freshmen, parents
June 03, 2009Rowan University will host members of the incoming Class of 2013-and their parents--during three orientation sessions during the month of June.
Titled "RU Ready for Rowan," the two-day sessions will run June 22-23, 24-25 and 29-30 on Rowan's Glassboro campus. Students and their parents will attend separate sessions during the two days and most students will live in campus residence halls during their orientation period.
Orientation sessions are led by the PROS (Peer Referral and Orientation Staff), Rowan upperclassmen who assist new students with personal, social and academic concerns.
Sessions for students will include an overview of the University, personalized academic advising, campus tours, games and activities, information sessions, and workshops on such issues as academic success, time management, study skills, academic honesty, and relating to professors.
Sessions for parents will include workshops and small-group discussions with administrators, members of the student services staff, and the PROS, as well as discussions with faculty members and an overview of the University.
