Rowan Television Network wins three Telly Awards

July 07, 2009

Three Rowan Television Network (RTN) shows produced this past spring have won bronze Telly Awards, which recognize outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, video and film production, and web-based productions.

"All Access With the Profs," RTN's weekly show covering Rowan sports, won the bronze in the competition's sports category, while "Game On," a video game show with a focus on news, reviews, play-throughs, and retrospectives, and "Up All Night," Rowan's own late night talk show, both took honors in the student category.

The 30th annual Telly Awards drew nearly 11,000 entries from all 50 states and around the world, according to its web site (www.tellyawards.com). The awards were founded in 1978. Judging is done by 350 accomplished industry professionals.

"All Access with the Profs" was produced and anchored by Cody Chrusciel of Wayne, who earned dual degrees in broadcast journalism and radio/television/film (RTF) this past May, and Corey Scheiner of Old Bridge, a sophomore RTF major. It was directed by North Hanover native Megan Patterson, who also earned her RTF and broadcast journalism degrees in May.

"Game On" is produced by senior accounting major Alex Wanschura and edited by Tony Wanschura, a senior art major. The twin brothers both reside in Hamilton Square. Their winning entry, titled "Mega Man Retrospective Part Two," provides a nostalgic look at the "Mega Man" game for the Nintendo console.

"Up All Night" is produced and directed by junior RTF major Adam Bradshaw of Kalamazoo, Mich. It stars junior Kevin McTigue, an RTF major from Middletown, and Joe Penn, a sophomore RTF major from Sicklerville, who interview local celebrities and showcase local performers.

Established in 1993, RTN delivers 24 hours of continuous, closed-circuit programming to the entire Rowan University community. Run entirely by students under the direction of faculty adviser Chris Winkler, RTN features a variety of programs catering to a diverse audience while enabling members to receive training with professional equipment and technology.
