10 Rowan students compete in 'elevator pitch' contest
September 23, 2009Ten Rowan University student semi-finalists will pitch their ideas before a panel of business judges in the final round of the Rohrer Elevator Pitch Competition on Friday, September 25, at 12:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Rowan Hall, the College of Engineering building on Rowan's Glassboro campus.
Entrepreneur majors at Rowan University will compete in an attention-grabbing contest to pitch their product, service and project ideas in the fast-paced elevator fashion for a chance to compete at the national Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization conference in Chicago in October.
An elevator-pitching contest requires participants to create an idea and sell it in the time frame of a typical two-minute elevator ride.
After reviewing 78 written proposals, a panel of outside judges and Rowan faculty selected 10 semi-finalists to verbally present their plans, using only one prop, to a panel of business professionals and address their questions. The panel of judges includes:
Jay Shoemaker, owner, Digital DJs LLC, and a Rowan alum and past winner of the Rohrer Business Plan Competition
Jennifer Cohen, Rita’s Franchise Company
John DeSimone, Eastern Region Sales, SerVaas Labs
Randi Woerner, director, Glassboro Economic Development
