Rowan Professor Named Volunteer of the YearMarch 01, 2000
Glassboro- The New Jersey Governor's Council on Alcoholism and Drug
Abuse recently awarded Dr. Linda R. Jeffrey, of Pilesgrove, the Mary
Mulholland Award for volunteer of the year.
Jeffrey is a psychology professor at Rowan University and director of
the University's Center for Addiction Studies. A trained experimental and
licensed clinical psychologist, Jeffrey has dedicated herself to improving
services to families who suffer from alcoholism, substance abuse,
domestic violence and child abuse. She has done extensive work in the
field of alcoholism and drug prevention.
A member of the New Jersey Higher Education Consortium since its
inception 10 years ago, Jeffrey has served on the New Jersey
Governor's Council, been project director for the Fund for the
Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE) grants that founded
the South Jersey Higher Education Consortium, project director for the
New Jersey Department of Health grant to the New Jersey Consortium
and project director of a FIPSE grant that funded the New Jersey
Consortium's state-wide curriculum infusion project.
The Mary Mulholland Award recognizes extensive and significant
dedication in the field of alcoholism and drug prevention.
