Rowan hosts observatory open houseJanuary 31, 2011
The Rowan Astronomical Observatory, Science Hall, Rowan University, Glassboro, will host an open house on Monday, Feb. 7, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
At 6:30 p.m. (weather permitting), the observatory and observing deck will open to the public. This is an outdoor activity, so dress accordingly.
A brief show in the Edelman Planetarium describing the nighttime sky will be offered at 7 and 7:30 p.m. A suite of telescopes will be available to view Jupiter, the Moon and many more celestial objects. Brief tours of the observatory dome will be offered, and guests will be invited to operate the controls of the 0.4-meter telescope.
This free event is open to the public. Children are welcome with parental supervision.
In the event of clouds, the open house will be rescheduled later in the week.
