Professor to Discuss Colonization of Milky WayMarch 25, 1999
GLASSBORO--The Astronomy Club at Rowan University will host a public lecture by Dr. Tom Bania, of
Boston University, on Limits to Growth: Colonization of the Milky Way,<+> on Thursday, April 8, at 7:30
p.m. in the auditorium at Rowan Hall (engineering building).
Dr. Bania, who holds an A.B. from Brown University and an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of
Virginia, is the author of more than 200 papers, a member of the Antarctic Submillimeter Telescope and
Remote Observatory team that operates a year-round observatory at the South Pole, and an expert in the
areas of colonization of the Milky Way and the search for extra-terrestrial intelligence.
The American Astronomical Society and the Shapley Endowment Fund are sponsoring Dr. Bania's visit.
