Hurricane Sandy Update: All facilities closed Monday and Tuesday.October 27, 2012
Weather forecasters are calling for Southern New Jersey to feel the effects of Hurricane Sandy starting Sunday evening with the brunt of the storm coming through the region early Monday morning through Tuesday. We can expect more than 10” of rain and sustained wind speeds in excess of 70 mph.
All Rowan University facilities will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 29 and 30. Students who live on the Glassboro campus must notify their resident assistants by Sunday at noon of whether they plan to leave campus or remain. Students who plan to remain on campus will receive instructions from their resident assistants about procedures and services for their specific building.
The Student Center will remain open and food service will be available through Sunday evening. Residents will receive information about food service options throughout the remainder of the storm through their RA.
Cars parked in low-lying lots (i.e., Triad and Chestnut) should be moved to higher ground. The Student Center will serve as the campus relocation center if needed. The Rec Center and Library will be closed, but the Health Center will set up operations in the Student Center.
Essential employees will be briefed about their assignments by their supervisors.
Rowan’s Office of Emergency Management is working with the County and State agencies to ensure we have the latest information about the storm and available resources. As of today, Gov. Christie has declared a state of emergency, which means that there may be road closures anytime before or throughout the emergency.
The University will notify the community on Tuesday about the status for Wednesday. We will also provide information on the University website. We ask that students and employees monitor the storm by visiting:
