Rowan to host March for Babies on Sunday, April 28April 26, 2013
For the 10th straight year, Rowan University will host hundreds of walkers who will unite, rain or shine, for The March of Dimes’ 75th annual March for Babies on Sunday, April 28.
The March for Babies is the nation’s oldest walk fundraiser honoring babies born healthy and supporting those who need help to survive and thrive.
Gloucester and Cumberland County residents and businesses are encouraged to join March for Babies, a four-mile walk that kicks off at 9 a.m. from Rowan’s football field at Bowe Boulevard and Carpenter Street in Glassboro.
Registration for the walk begins at 9 a.m. Walkers will follow a scenic route through campus down to Rowan Boulevard. The walk will return to the football field. A victory party, featuring music provided by Rowan Radio WGLS-FM, children’s activities, dancing and a light lunch, will follow the event.
Funds raised by March for Babies in New Jersey help support prenatal wellness programs, research grants, neonatal intensive care unit family support programs and advocacy efforts for stronger, healthier babies. Since 1970, more than $2.6 billion has been raised nationwide to sustain the March of Dimes mission.
While Rowan has hosted the March for Babies since 2003, the Gloucester County walk is more than 20 years old. In the last decade, the Gloucester County walk has raised more than $1.3 million.
