Robots Take Over RowanApril 27, 2004
Robots with a range of abilities will take over Rowan University (figuratively, of course) on Thursday, April 29, 2004, starting at 10:50 a.m. in Robinson Hall, Room 201A.
Students in the Computer Science Department?s Robotics course will demonstrate their final projects ? robots they designed and programmed to handle various tasks.
Those tasks include everything from sorting boxes into groups based on color, playing the game ?Nim? with a human and writing onto a board words programmed into it (the GraffitiBot).
Nine groups of students made their robots out of Legos and other materials; wrote programs to operate them on PCs; and attached touch, light and infrared sensors that can determine when the robots run into an obstacle, what the brightness of the environment is and how far they are from another object.
