Logging
in to NetMail Web Access
To
Login to NetMail please visit http://cp.rowan.edu
and click the "Login to Netmail Web Access" link
at the top of the page. You will then get the following window:

Enter
your Rowan Network username and password and click "OK".
DO
NOT click the box next to "Remember my password"
ESPECIALLY if you are on a shared computer
or in a computer lab.

you do not know your username and/or password please visit
http://www.rowan.edu/password/reset
to obtain this information
Logging
Out of NetMail Web Access
When
logging out, click the Exit icon
on the top toolbar to properly log out, rather than just closing
your browser.

Quotas
- All
mailboxes have a quota of 50 Megabytes.
-
You can send send and receive messages up to 40 Megabytes
in size.
-
At 90% Capacity you will receive notification informing
you that you are approaching your quota.
-
At 100% capacity your mailbox will no longer
accept messages; all incoming emails designated for your
mailbox will be returned. The sender of the message will
receive notification that your mailbox is full and therefore
not able to accept messages.
Pop-Up
Blockers
- If
you have a pop-up blocker on your computer, you may need
to disable it or add the NetMail system as an allowed site
(netmail2.rowan.edu).

The Main Window
When
you open WebAccess, you will see the main window. The main
window is the starting point for many of the tasks you can
accomplish with WebAccess.

The
Toolbars
The
toolbar displays options to view your mailbox, compose an
item, search the Address Book, view your calendar, open Help,
change your WebAccess options, and exit WebAccess.
The
Top Toolbar has icons for Help, Options and Exit

The
Left Toolbar has icons for Viewing your Mailbox, Composing
an Item, Address Book, Calendar and Proxy
Timing Out
You
can choose how long you remain logged into WebAccess during
a period of inactivity. After the specified time limit has
passed, you are automatically logged out to maintain the security
of your mailbox.
To
set an automatic logout time limit:
1. In the WebAccess toolbar, click Options >
General Settings.
2. In the Timeout field under WebAccess Settings, type your
timeout interval in minutes (from 1 to 40).
3. Click Save.
Defining
the Number of Messages Per Page
WebAccess
lets you determine the number of messages that are displayed
per Web page inside your various folders. The default number
of messages per page is 10. You can choose to display from
5 to 50 messages per page. When messages are spread over multiple
pages, you can click Next to view each successive page.
To
define the number of messages per page:
1. In the WebAccess toolbar, click Options >
General Settings.
2. Under WebAccess Settings, click the Messages per Page
drop-down list to select the number of messages you want
to display on each page.
3. Click Save.

Working
with new messages
How
do I open a new e-mail?
NOTE:
If you have a pop-up blocker on your computer, you may need
to disable it or add the NetMail system as an allowed site
(netmail2.rowan.edu).

To
read a message, click on the email subject.
To
close the message after reading, choose the Close
icon
To delete the message after reading, choose the Delete
icon

Viewing
Attachments
Sometimes
when you receive a message, there will be an attachment included.
WebAccess
will attempt to convert the attachment to HTML and display
it in the body of the message.
If
WebAccess cannot convert the file:
1. Click the link for the attachment under the subject line.
2. From the browser dialog box, choose to open the file.
The
browser then launches an application to view the file in its
native format. For example, if the attachment is a Word document
and Word is installed on your computer, the attachment will
be opened in Word. If the browser cannot identify the attachment's
native format, it will bring up a dialog box where you can
select an applicationto view the attachment.
Saving Attachments
To
save an attachment:
1. View the message.
2. Click the link for the attachment (under the Subject).
3. In the browser dialog box, select Save and browse to
the location where you want to save the file.
4. Click Close.
The
file is saved to the specified directory. All attachments
are saved in their native format.

Replying to a Message
1.
Click the message to open it.
2. Click Reply to Sender or Reply All on the message toolbar.

Reply
to Sender sends a reply only to the original sender.
Reply
All sends a reply to the sender and all recipients of
the original item.
3. Type your message in the Message field.

Once you are finished, Click Send.
Forwarding
a Message
1.
Click the message to open it.
2. Click Forward
on the message toolbar.
The
original message is included as an attachment to the new
message.
3.
Do one of the following:
-
Click Address Book to add recipients’ e-mail addresses
in the To, CC, or BC fields. Click Compose when you are
done adding recipients. For more information, see Addressing
an Item.
- Type
recipients’ e-mail addresses, separated by a semicolon,
comma, or a space, in the To, CC, or BC field.
4.
Type your message.
5.
Click Send

Marking an Item Unread (Read Later)
You
can mark a message to appear as if it is unopened or unread.
For example, if you opened a message and are interrupted,
you might want to mark the message as unread to remind you
to read it later.
To
mark an item unread:
From the INBOX item list, mark the message's check box,
then click Read Later at the top of the mailbox window.
or
From the INBOX item list, select the message to open it,
click Message Options ,
then click Read Later.
The
message then will display as unread
in your mailbox.

Composing
Items
To
send a mail message
1.
From the NetMail main window (on the Left Toolbar), click
Compose .
2. Click Address Book to add recipients in the To, CC, and
BC boxes or type a recipient's address
in the To, CC, or BC box. Separate multiple addresses with
a comma.
3. Type your subject and message.
4. Click Send.
Attaching
Files
You
can attach one or more files to an e-mail message to send
to other users. To attach files to a message, your browser
must support attachments.
To
attach a file to an e-mail message:
1. Compose a message .
2. Click Attach to attach files to the
message.
3. For each file you want to attach, do the following:
a. Click Browse to locate the file you
want to attach.
b. Click the file you want to attach, then click Open.
c. Click Add to attach the file to the
message.
4. To remove any attachments, click the Remove option next
to each attachment, then click OK.
5. Click OK when done adding attachments.
If
you are using Firefox and have difficulty adding an attachment
(if it takes a very long time or completely times out) try
using Internet Explorer instead.
Note:
When NetMail® sends a message, it encodes attachments
in base64, which increases the size of the attachment 25
to 30 percent from the original file.
Adding
and Removing a Signature on Outgoing Items
The
Signature feature automatically appends text to the bottom
of each outgoing message.
To
add a signature to all outgoing messages:
1. In the WebAccess toolbar, click Options >
Mailbox Management.
2. Under Add Signature to Outgoing Messages,
click Yes.
3. In the Signature field, type the text you want added
to the bottom of each message you send.
4. Click Save.
To
remove the signature from your outgoing messages:
1. In the WebAccess toolbar, click Options >
Mailbox Management.
2. Under Add Signature to Outgoing Messages,
click No.
3. Click Save.

Managing
Sent Items
Defining
a Folder for Sent Items
By default, sent messages are not retained in your mailbox.
You can, however, define a folder to store sent messages.
Sent messages occupy space in your mailbox and count against
your mailbox quota.
To
create a sent items folder:
1. In the Folder List, click Add Folder .
2 . Type Sent Items in the Folder Name
field.
3 . Click OK.
To
define a folder for sent messages:
1. Click Options >
Mailbox Management.
2. From the Sent Folder drop-down list under Mailbox Settings,
select the folder in which you want to store sent messages.
3. Click Save to save your folder settings.
Viewing
Sent Items
To
view a sent message:
1. From the Folder List, select the folder you created for
sent items.
2. From the Sent Folder item list, click the sent message
you want to view.
The
message appears in a separate window, allowing you to view,
forward, reply to, move, delete and print the message. You
can change message options, such as Read Later or Message
Priority, and view the message source.

Deleting
Items
Deleting
Messages
When
you delete an e-mail message from your mailbox, a delete mark
appears
next to the item. The item, however, is not actually removed
from your mailbox until you purge it. As long as you have
not purged an item, you can undelete it.
To
delete an item:
1. In your Mailbox or Calendar, locate the item you want
to delete.
2. Mark the item's check box, then click Delete.
or
Click the item to open it, then click Delete
on the toolbar.
Undeleting
a Message
To
undelete an item:
1. In the Mailbox Item List, locate the item you want to
undelete.
2. Mark the item's check box, then click Undelete.
Purging
Deleted Messages
When
you delete an e-mail message from your mailbox, a delete mark
appears
next to the item to indicate it is deleted. The item, however,
is not actually removed from your mailbox until you purge
it.
To
purge a single item:
1. In your Mailbox, locate the item you want to purge.
2. Mark the item's check box, then click Purge on the main
toolbar.
To
purge all the messages marked as deleted
in the current folder, click the Purge All
button on the main toolbar.

Setting
Up an Automatic Forward
You
can use the Automatic Forwarding feature to automatically
forward all incoming messages to another e-mail account.
To
set up automatic forwarding:
1. In the WebAccess toolbar, click Options
>
Mailbox Management.
2. Under Forward All New Messages, select
Yes.
3. Select NO for the Keep Copy
option and forwarded messages will be automatically removed
from your NetMail mailbox.
Your
Mailbox has a quota and your mail will stop forwarding
if it is reached. Leaving a copy of each message in your
mailbox is a bad idea if you are not going to regularly
login to NetMail and delete old messages.
4. In the Forward to: field, specify the
e-mail address that you want to forward all your messages
to.
5. Click Save.
Removing an Automatic Forward
1.
In the WebAccess toolbar, click Options >
Mailbox Management.
2. Under Forward All New Messages, select No.
3. Click Save.
