ROLM Telephone User Guide
Most employees on-campus have white ROLM telephones.

CallXpress Voice Mail

First Time Access
To access the system on campus dial 5999. The first time employees access the system, enter 0000 for the security code and students should enter the last 4 digits of their Rowan ID. Use the tutorial to set up your personal security code, name, and greeting. To access the system from off campus dial (856) 256-5999 and follow the previous steps to access your voicemail.

Retrieving your voice mail messages
Dial 5999 then enter your personal security code. Press 1 to listen to your messages. Press 4 to delete a message or 5 to save a message.

From off-campus you will be prompted for your mailbox number, in most cases this is your extension followed by a zero (e.g. 55960)

Cisco IP Telephone User Guides (requires Macromedia Flash)
Some employees on campus are using new Cisco IP phones. You can see which phone model you have in the upper right of the phone under the words "CISCO IP PHONE"

Telephones that are not working properly can be exchanged at the customer service counter located at the Information Resources Support Desk in Memorial Hall. Please call 256-4400 for more information.

Telephones that are not working properly can be exchanged at the customer service counter located at the Information Resources Support Desk in Memorial Hall South.
For student telephone information, please dial x7000. For employee telephone information dial x 4400

Need a fax or modem line?

Because Rowan uses a digital telephone switch, fax machines and modems cannot be used on a standard Rowan telephone connection. Instead, a special "analog line" must be installed at the location where you wish to use the fax machine or modem. Special equipment in our telephone switch is required to support each analog line. Hence, the following policy is in effect:

  • Analog line installation requires the approval of:
    • for Division of Academic Affairs: the appropriate Dean or Associate Provost or the Provost;
    • for other Divisions: the appropriate Vice President
  • A one-time charge of $250 will be added to the telephone bill for the office ordering the analog line
  • Once the Office of Information Resources has received the approval form (this is a Microsoft Word Document), a work order will be placed to install the analog line.
  • The $250 charge will be added to the phone bill once the installation is complete
  • Offices are encouraged to consult with Information Resources when selecting a fax machine or modem.
  • Analog line installation is not available to students.
