RU Blogging?

Blogs have exploded in popularity over the last 5 years as a means of presenting personal reflections or opinions in the form of an online journal, with new entries appearing in sequence as they are written. Rowan bloggers have found their voice with the introduction of the Rowan University Blog powered by WordPress MU. To learn more about blogging, and get your blog started, attend the session
Make Your Own Blog this summer.

Visit IR Training Services’ blog, Tech Training Tidbits, to stay informed of technology development happenings, including our newly forming 3-year technology training plan, at: http://blogs.rowan.edu/irtraining

Why blog? Blogging is a means for individuals to get to know each other better through their postings and comments to postings. It allows you to provide additional information, in class or in collaborative work, and is a great opportunity to expose others to experts at other universities or in industry through guest blogging posts.  Blogging also serves as a means to keep things current without the formal maintenance of  a website.

MS Office 2008 (Mac)

In preparation for anticipated campus-wide transition to MS Office 2008 for the Macintosh community this fall, 12 individuals throughout the campus are currently participating in a 9-week pilot group. Participants upgraded their software from MS Office 2004 to MS Office 2008, are communicating challenges and solutions with pilot group participants, and will discuss recommendations which will directly shape the technical training programming.  Pilot group results will be available June 2008. Visit Feedback Forum to read pilot group recommendations.

To prepare yourself for the upgrade, summer sessions include:

MS Office ’08 (Mac) Demo
Overview of installation, training resources, and discussion of compatibility.

MS Office ’08 (Mac) Hands-On Tour
Complete hands-on activities to get familiar navigating the software.

3-year Plan Bubbles

How are we doing? What do you want to see in future technology training? Share your thoughts today!

During its first three years, IR Training Services has evaluated technology training needs annually in order to provide flexible training solutions. Now that the unit is more established, we look to create a rolling 3-yr plan to effectively provide technology development to the campus community which continues to meet our standards of excellence.

We’re in the beginning phase of this initiative, and are working to engage the campus community in the planning process to ensure we continue to address the technology development needs and concerns of Rowan’s faculty, staff and administration.

Keep your eye on Tech Training Tidbits to watch the process unfold. Read our latest post on anticipated major software upgrades that will affect the campus community by visiting: http://blogs.rowan.edu/irtraining
