Bb-CE Alerts for Faculty
Red X Alert
Problem: When trying to upload a file or attachment, the user sees a Red X in place of My Computer.
Solutions: After logging into Bb-CE at the My Blackboard screen, a Warning Security window will pop-up, click the checkbox next to "Always trust content from this publisher" and then click Run.
Deletion of Bb-CE Course Sections
In in effort to reduce the amount of space used on the BbCE (WebCT) server, ALL Fall 2006 course sections wll be deleted on October 30, 2008.
Fall 2006 courses begin with the number 200640

If you need to save your course, you will need to make a backup by doing the following:
To Back Up a Course:
- Go to the Build Tab > Manage Course > Backup.
- Click on Back Up Course.
- Click OK.
- Click on the Action Link (v with 3 lines) and select Save as File.
- Click on Class Files.
- Click OK.
To Download the Back-Up:
- Go to the Build tab > File Manager.
- Scroll down to the .bak file.
- Click the Action Link (v with 3 lines) and select Download.
- The file will be downloaded to your computer.
If you would like to have other courses from previous terms (Spring 2007 – Spring 2008) deleted, you will need to send the following information to Georgette Sahm at sahmg@rowan.edu BEFORE 10/30/2008.

Firefox Printing Alert for Bb-CE Users (Important!)
We have found a printing problem with Firefox and Bb-CE. Printing in Firefox, some Bb-CE handout links will cause the printer to hang up in an infinite loop printing pages until the printer runs out of paper. If you are using Firefox, please use the Create Printable View icon to print.

Alert for Microsoft Vista Users
For students and faculty members from the Student View tab using Microsoft Vista, you must follow the directions below so that Learning Modules in Bb-CE will show.
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Go to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Trusted sites > Sites.
3. Uncheck the checkbox next to "Require server verification (https:)
for all sites in this zone."
4. Type http://blackboard.rowan.edu into the Add this Website to the
zone textbox and click Add.
5. Click OK. |

Alert: Do NOT Use Special Characters for Files, Titles or Descriptions
Avoid using special characters (i.e. / ! # : ; @ & \ ?) because they cause errors and other problems in Bb-CE! Special characters cannot be used when naming files, or entering titles and descriptions for files and Course Tools in Bb-CE. Names can include underscores, letters, and numbers.
