Rowan University has become a top-ranked regional university

U.S. News & World Report

For the eighth consecutive year, Rowan University is ranked in the “First Tier” of the Northern Region by US News & World Report in its annual ranking of the nations best colleges and universities. Rowan is ranked 28th out of the 174 colleges and universities in this category. Most of the colleges in this category are private. Among public colleges, Rowan is ranked fourth. Over the last seven years, Rowan University's ranking in US News & World Report has improved from 55th to 28th.

The rankings are based on a survey of peer institutions and 16 indicators of academic excellence, such as retention rate, graduation rate, student selectivity and alumni giving.

The Northern Region includes schools in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland.

US News & World Report also ranks colleges of engineering separately. Rowan’s College of Engineering is ranked 16th nationally in the latest US News rankings. The college’s department of chemical engineering is ranked 2nd nationally, the department of electrical and computer engineering is ranked eighth, the department of mechanical engineering is ranked ninth nationally and the department of civil engineering is ranked 11th nationally.

Kaplan

Rowan has been recognized by other national organizations that evaluate colleges. Kaplan included the University in “The Unofficial, Biased Insider’s Guide to the 320 Most Interesting Colleges.” Also, Kiplinger's named Rowan University one of the "100 Best Buys in Public Colleges and Universities" and the Princeton Review included Rowan in the latest edition of “The Best Northeastern Colleges.”

Colleges of Distinction

Rowan was selected for the Colleges of Distinction, a Web site and college guide profiling more than 240 of America’s best bets in higher education. Based on the opinions of guidance counselors, educators, and admissions professionals, Colleges of Distinction honors colleges that excel in four areas: engaging students, providing outstanding teaching, offering vibrant communities, and producing successful outcomes.

Princeton Review

The College of Business was included in The Princeton Review 2007 edition of its “Best 282 Business Schools.” Schools are chosen for their academic programs and offerings, institutional data we and the candid opinions of students attending them who rate and report on their campus experiences at the schools.

In a survey of more than 700 schools by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine, Rowan University’s undergraduate program in Entrepreneurship was named one of the “Best Schools for Entrepreneurs” in the nation. Rowan ranks 17th in the survey, based on the curriculum, mentoring, experiential learning, faculty credentials and the success of alumni.
