Health & Medical

Health & Medical

All students must submit the university mandatory health forms which can be accessed at the Student Health Services, mandatory health and immunization requirements.

Students who do not submit the mandatory health forms will not be able to live on-campus and will not be able to study in the ELP.

You must bring these completed to our admissions office prior to orientation (first day of classes).

The University Health Center will ONLY accept these forms in English.  If you have vaccination documents from your home country in your native language, you must either have those documents formally translated or you must have your health provider complete the university forms.

If you have questions about these forms, please contact the ELP international student advisor at

Insurance Coverage

All students must have medical insurance for the duration of their time at Rowan University.

ELP students must purchase their own insurance.  When a student enrolls in a degree program at Rowan, they will then become eligible for the university insurance program.

In the U.S., healthcare is very expensive. New Jersey state law requires that every person enrolled as a full- time student must maintain health insurance coverage (New Jersey Statute 18A:62-15).

Therefore, ELP students MUST have health insurance; we have provided some of these options below. Please be sure that whichever option you choose that your plan meets the following coverage:

  • Medical insurance covers the duration of stay in the U.S.
  • Medical benefits provide a minimum of $50,000 per accident or illness.
  • Medical evacuation to be covered in the amount of $10,000 minimum.
  • Repatriation to be covered in the amount of $7,500 minimum
  • Deductible does not exceed $500 per accident or illness.

Please bring proof of insurance with you when you arrive so the ELP can copy and place in your folder. We advise you to ensure that your non-Rowan health insurance information is readily accessible in the case of an emergency.
