International Freshman Admissions Instructions

Special Note: You are considered an international student if you hold, or will need to obtain a non-immigrant visa such as a student visa (F-1) or an exchange visitor visa (J-1). Applicants who are U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, pending permanent residency, NJ Dream Act/DACA, and undocumented are considered domestic applicants at Rowan University. 

Step 1 - Complete the Application 

Freshman Student (applying to enter your first year of university)

International Transfer Students click here

  • Submit the Online Applicationessay, and the $65 application fee 
  • Submit one signed Academic Letter of Recommendation
  • Submit your Official Transcript
    • If you have a U.S. High School Transcript please submit an official copy
    • If you have a non-U.S. Secondary School Transcript please submit your official copy and a certified English translation.
  • Submit standardized language test scores - a TOEFL score of 70 or IELTS score of 6.0. International students must submit standardized test scores unless they are exempt (View Language Policy).
    * If you don't meet the English required scores please see Pathway Program & Conditional Admissions 
  • For Engineering Majors: official SAT or ACT scores 
  • For Performing or Creative Arts Majors (art, music, theater, and dance): an audition or portfolio review

Step 2 - Complete the I-20 Application

All International applicants must complete an I-20 Application and supporting documentation. We encourage you begin the I-20 application immediately after submitting the university application. Upon academic acceptance, your I-20 application will be processed by the International Center. Please submit photocopies of your I-20 application materials directly to the International Center. You will need the original documents when visiting the U.S. Embassy.
