Scholarships for International Students

Rowan University offers three merit-based scholarships to undergraduate international freshmen applicants and one merit-based scholarship for undergraduate international transfer applicants. These students must be eligible for F-1 Visa status and show exceptional academic achievement. 

In order to receive priority consideration for the international scholarship we encourage students to apply for admission and complete their application by January 31. There is no separate scholarship application. Scholarships are awarded to full-time international freshmen and transfer entering during the fall term only. Scholarships are not awarded to students entering during the spring term.

All accepted international students will be automatically considered for the International Scholarship awards. Recipients will be notified by e-mail. Upon receiving the student’s enrollment confirmation, the award will be divided by two and deducted from one’s fall and spring semester. Rowan International Scholarship funds will only be applied toward direct costs including tuition, fees, on campus housing, and board for fall and spring semesters only. 

*Merit-based scholarships are awarded competitively and always contingent on available funding.

University Undergraduate Freshmen

International Student Academic Excellence Scholarship

This merit-based scholarship recognizes international students who have achieved academic excellence in their secondary education and attained advanced proficiency in English as their second or additional language. This scholarships uses a combination of secondary school GPA and language test scores (TOEFL or IELTS) to determine eligibility.

  • Students must maintain full-time status and a minimum 3.0 GPA to renew scholarship for up to 4 years (8 semesters).
  • SAT Range = Combined total score of SAT Critical Reading + SAT Math. Writing score is not considered. 
  • ACT Scores will be converted to determine the SAT range.

International Student High Achievers Scholarship

This merit-based scholarship recognizes high achieving international students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in secondary education and attained advanced proficiency in English as their second or additional language. This scholarship uses a combination of secondary school GPA and SAT combined reading and math or ACT composite score.

English Language Program High Achievers Scholarship for International Students

This merit-based scholarship recognizes the outstanding work of international students who study in Rowan’s Intensive English Program in order to meet the university admissions English language requirement. This scholarship uses a combination of secondary school GPA and Rowan ELP GPA.

University Undergraduate Transfer Students

International Transfer Scholarship

This merit-based scholarship is awarded to those students transferring to Rowan University from another accredited higher education institution. These students must have earned a minimum of 30 college credits, and must meet the GPA requirement as outlined below.

  • Student must maintain day full-time status and a minimum 3.0 GPA to renew scholarship for a maximum of 2 years (4 semesters).
  • GPA range is based on the credential evaluation of the transcripts from secondary schools, and is based on a GPA range of 0.0 – 4.0. Transfer student GPA range is based on the transcript submitted by the U.S. based post-secondary institution at which the student earned the college credits.
