Our online Master of Arts (MA) in Wellness and Lifestyle Management trains professionals from a variety of disciplines who want to work with clients or students to create and maintain lifestyle changes. Our program is designed to prepare graduates to develop and implement wellness and lifestyle change programs in community, hospital, corporate, and school settings. 

The goal of this online master's program is to prepare professionals in corporate, hospital and community health promotion settings to facilitate and lead wellness initiatives within their organizations. Graduates will be prepared to serve as facilitators, coordinators and managers of wellness programs in the following types of organizations:

  • Corporate wellness/fitness facilities
  • Hospital-based wellness/fitness facilities
  • Clinical and rehabilitation centers
  • Schools and Colleges/universities
  • Community wellness/fitness facilities
  • Non-profit health agencies
  • State/county/city Departments of Public Health

Admissions Requirements

The following is a list of items required to begin the application process for the program. There may be additional actions or materials required for admission to the program. Upon receipt of the materials below, a representative from the Rowan University Office of Admissions will contact you with confirmation or will indicate any missing items.

  • Submit an Application
  • $65 (U.S.) non-refundable application fee
  • Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of number of credits earned)
  • Minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Current professional resume
  • Typewritten statement of professional objectives

    • Provide reasons for pursuing the program. Describe how you might use this program to advance your career (educational goals beyond the master's level, if applicable, are also relevant).
  • Two letters of recommendation

    • Letters of recommendation should be from professional administrators and include information which attests to applicant's ability to pursue a graduate degree
  • Eligible applicants must have successfully completed the following undergraduate foundation courses at an accredited institution before beginning the Obesity & Diabetes Prevention Management (HLTH 37580) course:

    • INAR 06200 Basic Nutrition
    • BIOL 10211 Anatomy & Physiology I or BIOL 10212 Anatomy & Physiology II
  • During the admissions process, the M.A. in Wellness and Lifestyle Management Academic Advisor will determine foundation course equivalencies and include information to that effect in the student's admission letter (if applicable).
