Our Master of Science (MS) in Nursing program provides registered nurses (RN) with the skills to assume leadership roles in their respective organizations. Our nurse practitioner (NP) program prepares RNs to sit for the concentration certification exam. The certifying agency determines eligibility for the exam.

The Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) concentration offers you the opportunity to work with adult patients who suffer from critical and chronic illnesses.

Our Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program is offered in a hybrid format with a combination of fully online courses, face to face classes, and clinical experiences. At the completion of the MSN program, the graduate will have completed clinical hours as determined by the accrediting body in the area of the Nurse Practioner track.

All applicants to the Master of Science in Nursing program will complete seven core graduate level courses. Admission to the concentration will only occur after application review by the coordinator. Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all Master of Science in Nursing core courses in order to be considered by the Department of Nursing to move into the Nurse Practitioner Concentration Track.

The following is a list of items required to begin the application process for the program. There may be additional actions or materials required for admission to the program. Upon receipt of the materials below, a representative from the Rowan University Office of Admissions will contact you with confirmation or will indicate any missing items.

  • Submit an Application
  • Completed foundation courses

    • Comprehensive Health Assessment and Research Applications in Nursing Practice. (the MSN Academic Advisor will determine foundation course equivalencies)
  • $65 (U.S.) non-refundable application fee
  • Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) in Nursing from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Current professional resume
  • Copy of valid CPR card (must be updated every two years and sent the Department of Nursing)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of number of credits earned; presented in a sealed official envelope)
  • Proof of current (U.S), valid RN license (must maintain active New Jersey RN license the duration of the program)
  • Two letters of recommendation from professional sources
  • Individual Professional Malpractice Insurance (required at time of application and must be maintained the duration of the program)
