About Rowan-Virtua TBES

The School of Translational Biomedical Engineering & Sciences brings together life science and engineering researchers from throughout Rowan and Virtua to translate innovation and discovery into everyday practice. As the focal point of research for Virtua Health College of Medicine & Life Sciences, the school leverages Rowan’s strengths and existing degree programs while cultivating new faculty, research institutes, degree programs and partnerships.

Here, novel research and solutions to real-world problems are cornerstones of our programs, leading to new knowledge, therapies and devices and well-prepared students ready to make a positive impact on the world. Our faculty-researchers develop new medical devices, new therapies and improved treatments for patients with innovative research and lead projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, private foundations and biotechnology companies.

Programs in life science and engineering include doctoral and masters research programs in cell and molecular biology, neuroscience and orthopedic device engineering and others, including dual physician scientist and masters degrees for aspiring physicians and health professionals.

Virtua Health College of Medicine and Life Sciences

Established in 2021, the Virtua Health College of Medicine & Life Sciences of Rowan University is an historic academic health partnership between Rowan University, a top 100 public research institution, and Virtua Health, South Jersey’s largest health system. 

As two of the region’s largest institutions, both Rowan and Virtua are leaders in higher education and health care, distinguished in the region and nationally—and united in a vision to improve the quality, experience and capabilities of health care for all people. Together, we are advancing research for the discovery of new treatments, breaking down barriers of inequality and access to care, resulting in the improved health and well-being of all.
