What You'll Learn

Rowan’s online supervision certificate for teachers is a part-time, 12-credit graduate program made up of four online courses that you can take in any order. Each course builds your capacity to lead within your school or district. You'll explore how schools function, what makes a good leader, how to support effective teaching and curriculum development and assessment best practices.

The Rowan Online Experience

The supervision certificate program includes four online courses you can complete in any order, allowing you to personalize the pace and structure to fit your schedule. Some students take one course per module, while others double up to earn their certificate more quickly.

Admission Requirements

To apply to Rowan’s online supervision certificate for teachers, you must submit the following application materials. Once the Rowan University Office of Admissions receives all materials, a representative will contact you with confirmation or to indicate any missing items. There may be additional action or materials required for admission to the program. 

  • Completed online application
  • $65 (U.S.) nonrefundable application fee
  • Master's degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of the number of credits earned)
  • Current professional résumé
  • Typewritten statement of professional objectives that includes reasons for pursuing this certification
  • Two letters of recommendation from education administrators (supervisor, principal or superintendent) that attest to your ability to pursue a graduate degree
  • NJ Standard Instructional Certificate or Educational Services Certificate
    • Out-of-state equivalents may be accepted
  • Certificate Program Acknowledgement
  • NJ DOE Employment Verification Form
    • The supervision certificate requires at least three years of satisfactory full-time teaching or educational services experience

Teachers in the state of New Jersey may apply to Rowan’s online supervision certification program through the New Jersey Teacher Outreach Program (NJTOP®)

Note: The online supervision certification program meets the requirements specified by the state of New Jersey and is designed for those who have already earned a master’s degree and want to qualify as a supervisor in the public schools. Students outside the state of NJ must consult with their state department of education for certification requirements.
