How do I check transfer credits? What will I transfer in?

  • TREQ (Transfer Equivalency Digital Portal) — This portal allows you enter your transfer credits from other institutions to see how they may fulfill degree requirements here at Rowan.
  • Transferology — If your previous institution doesn't appear in TREQ, use Transferology. Prospective students can create a free account to add previously-earned college credits and/or military learning experiences, then view results to determine how credits will transfer to one of Rowan's programs.
  • After you're admitted, and once your transfer credits have been officially evaluated, you will see them reflected on your transfer credit report in Self-Service Banner.
  • Key policies to know:
  • While there is no limit to traditional course credits transferred from an accredited college or university for bachelor’s degrees, University policy requires a minimum of 30 credits be completed through Rowan University coursework.
  • Grades earned in courses that are transferred are recorded on the transcript but do not count toward the student's Rowan University GPA.
  • Courses that do not have a Rowan equivalent may still count as free electives/earned hours toward graduation, under certain circumstances.
  • General education and free elective credits do not expire.

Where do I send my transcripts?

  • Please request your official transcripts to be sent directly to Rowan from the issuing institution for processing. Transcripts emailed or mailed from students are not considered official.
  • Electronic submissions: If your transferring institution uses a third-party vendor to send transcripts electronically, use the following email: electronic-transcripts@rowan.edu
  • Mail submissions: Send mailed transcripts to: Rowan University Admissions Office, 201 Mullica Hill Road, Glassboro, NJ 08028

Note: Processing times can vary greatly based on the time of year transcripts arrived at the University and the method used. Mailed transcripts may take some time before they even reach the office for processing.

What system do I log into for online classes and resources?

  • You can find digital services offered at Rowan University in one place: myRowan. Whether you need to register for classes, view your bill, or make an appointment with University offices, you can find what you're looking for in myRowan.
  • Through myRowan you can access your student email, Canvas for your online classes, Self-Service Banner for student records, grades, financial aid, and much more.

How long are online courses?

  • Online courses at Rowan University come in a variety of lengths. We offer traditional full-semester classes as well as accelerated 8-week modules.
  • To check your enrollment and confirm the length of your classes, use Self-Service Banner (accessed via myRowan): In Self-Service Banner you can update or view your personal information, access secure services including registering for classes, viewing your unofficial transcript, and applying for financial aid.

Where do I take my online courses?

  • Rowan University uses the Canvas learning management system to host and access online course materials. All your coursework, assignments, discussions, and grades live here. Check out the technology you will need as a Rowan Online student.
  • Rowan Online Immersion (ROI) is a free training tutorial provided in Canvas, designed to prepare students taking online or hybrid courses for the first time at Rowan University. Students who have taken online courses at other institutions are encouraged to take ROI to become familiar with Rowan's online learning and technology. The course takes approximately 1 hour and can be completed at the student's own pace.

Access Canvas through myRowan or directly at canvas.rowan.edu.

What classes do I need to take?

  • DegreeWorks is a very useful advising tool for students and should be used in careful consultation with your Success Coach. Students must complete requirements on their DegreeWorks audit prior to graduation.
  • DegreeWorks clearly displays all graduation requirements and fulfills requirements based on any past courses, in-progress courses, and future registered courses. It will also display any certificate, concentration, or minor requirements.

How to access it: You can access DegreeWorks from MyRowan on the Track Degree Progress tile.

What is a free elective?

  • The word "free" means you're free to choose. Free electives are any courses that satisfy overall credit requirements rather than specific major requirements. Most majors allow a designated number of free elective credits for degree completion.
  • All bachelor’s degrees require 120 credits minimum. Free electives help you reach 120 credits even if your major coursework doesn’t fully get you there.
  • Electives can be anything of interest, related to your major or not, and can help you build skills toward your future career, could be applied to a Minor or Certificate of Undergraduate Studies, or help you satisfy prerequisite courses for future graduate studies.

How do I find classes?

  • Section Tally lists all course offerings and course details (instructor, meeting dates/times, etc.) for each term and shows real-time availability for each course.
  • CRNs (Course Registration Numbers) are the numbers all the way to the left of each row in Section Tally. These are the numbers you'll enter into Self-Service Banner to register for classes.
  • Access Section Tally through the Registrar's page on sites.rowan.edu/registrar. Training videos are also available there.

How do I schedule an appointment with my Success Coach?

  • Success Coaches are your primary point of contact for academic advising – reach them through Rowan Success Network (RSN) in MyRowan.
  • Phone: (856) 256-4747
  • Email: onlinestudents@rowan.edu
